I was into fashion from a very young age and I’m sure it’s due to my mom’s influence. She’s one of the most fashionable women I know. When I was in middle school, I would make drawings and I would print them onto T-shirts (I thought I was the coolest kid ever). When I was in high school, I actually wanted to be a fashion designer and I truly enjoyed sketching out unique clothing designs. I would sketch out a blouse and my mom would make it and it wasn’t until I sewed my own outfit that I realized that was not the path for me. I guess you can say I’ve constantly been searching for a platform to share my style with others.
The reason why I like to dress up is because it completely changes my mood. If I’m ever having a bad day or if I’m really nervous for a class presentation, exam, etc.. I purposely dress up more than usual to feel more confident and happy. I understand that some people get the same feeling out of wearing sweats, but for me dressing up is what does the trick. What I really dislike is that some people that I don’t even know would ask me, “Wow, you’re so dressed up, for school?” This question used to really annoy me because there aren’t any rules that say when you can dress up and when you cannot. I have now learned to take that question as a compliment, but it can be hard sometimes.
